CLAN ARTHUR TABLE
COWAL HIGHLAND GATHERING 2004
On Saturday 24 July four clan members, Publicity Liaison Officer, Hugh McArthur his wife Christine, Janice Johnston and I took ourselves to the Clan Village at Inverness Highland Games to occupy a stall representing Clan Arthur. There were some 25 Clans represented as against only 8 Clans the previous year. The weather was atrocious but for us it had the advantage of driving people into the tent even if it was just for shelter - We had a good day.
On Friday 27 August I took up attendance at Cowal Gathering in Dunoon with only 6 other Clans in the Clan Tent. I had a good display of MacArthur Society Literature. Next day, Saturday 28, I was joined by Hugh and Christine and they laid out the Clan Arthur stall with all Clan goods, clothing, jewellery, memorabilia, etc. They also brought a large Clan Badge cast in bronze and mounted on a timber shield, which proved to be a great attraction.
The weather was mixed - not as bad as at Inverness but when it rained that contributed to an increase in numbers of people coming into the tent. We had the pleasure of a visit from our Chief John and Lorraine - All this added up to be the best day we have had in sales and membership in the three times so far that we have ventured into the world of Clan Tents.
